    Cut Off Switch/Theft Deterrent

I wasn’t sure where this question went.

I will be hooking up a few switches for a bit of a deterrent for someone who takes a high interest in my 08 auto 68RFE LOL.

I know an alarm is an option, but I don’t want to go that route right now.

I understand the CP3(?) is belt-driven, so I can’t cut that off unless there’s an inline valve (could be bad cranking, no fuel?) nor the lift pump(is there one?) because CP3 can still pull from the tank?

I don’t want to do the starter because it’s as simple as jumping connects for someone experienced, right?

Now there’s a clutch safety switch thinking about interrupting, or is it called something else on an auto?

With that, I’d like to do the brake switch, maybe, so it’s not shiftable if they succeed at starting.

More precisely, it’s an 08 deleted, Minimax, 68RFE, no other mods.

I think it’s the neutral safety switch.

Some companies sell theft deterrent switches that disable your transmission from shifting until you press a button while stepping on the brake simultaneously.

I can’t think of the name of it off the top of my head.

Are you talking about one of the eight-pin plugs?

I looked into it but ended up buying two switches, one a single throw, and the other is a double throw.

Maybe I’ll hook the double throw to the horn, and each time it tries to crank, it will beep.

Also found this if you need to disable your truck totally from starting.

    Oh, yup came across that.

I don’t think it would work because, if I’m not mistaken, the CP3 will continue to pull fuel from the tank being the SERP belt runs it.

If all else fails, you could always go with a steering wheel lock, something like this.

I have figured it out with the ignition wire!

I will post some pix of it soon, hopefully. Is it still possible to jump the terminals at the starter also?

I think I’ll also combine that “club” with it too!

Yes, jumping battery positive to the starter solenoid will still crank the engine over, but the engine may not start and run depending on the wire you switched.

    Please keep us posted.

The 2amp IG fuse circuit led me to tie the switch into the blue with a red tracer under the dash.

    It works, though.

The switch-off instrument and everything work as usual, but no crank when you turn the key.

Switch on, and everything is back to normal.

For the starter to be jumped, it has to be the two big terminals and not the tiny connector, right?
