    BD Diesel Parts

I just installed some BD swaybar end links and a BD steering brace.

    Wow, such good parts!

I like BD not just cause there from Canada, but their parts are of such quality and easy to work with

The truck feels more solid in the front with the Bilstein 5100's.

Now it's time to order some BD diff covers and tranny pan.

    I love Xmas LOL

    Congrats!

Just an FYI, keep an eye on that steering brace; I ended up pulling mine off after 29k miles as I couldn’t keep it torqued.

After some time, it developed an issue where it would pop in the direction I turned, and the brace would hold to that position until I turned the wheel to a complete stop the other way.

This meant I either had a right or left pull on the steering that made me feel like I was floating when towing, which is all the time for me.

I’m also sure it put more stress on my steering box than helping because of this.

Anyway, keep an eye on those bolts and retighten them every 1k miles or so, in my not so humble opinion.

Was it the bd one of the cheaper ones.

I noticed a big diff between the other cheap ones compared to the BD one.

Plus, I tighten my stuff more than what they say to draw them.

I'm my own TQ wrench, LOL.

    Re: BD Diesel Parts

Yes, I did purchase the entire kit from BD.

I am nothing against BD at all, but in my opinion, while the brace is designed to reduce premature failure of the steering box due to flex, it appeared, at least in my case, to add stress.

Once the brace began to fail, it would lock the steering box into a flexed position instead of allowing it to return to its relaxed state.

Most people would never notice this; however, I live remotely and tow heavy every day at highway speeds.

The lowest speed is 55 mph, and I am 25 miles from the nearest tiny town (blink, and you miss it).

I would venture to guess that while the box may be a weak spot in design that sometimes us RAM owners might be making things worse than better.

I know I’ve been guilty of this in the past.

I could see how the brace would be handy as a temporary bandaid if the steering box were already failing, but otherwise, I believe that it is a marketing gimmick that I purchased and installed, by the way.

My brace now lays in my shop as a taunt and reminder.

It could be possible that the brace would work for someone who uses their truck as a grocery getter; however, after mine failed, I began to question its efficacy and my decision.

I also started to ask myself what stress I could be putting on other parts by not allowing the steering box to flex as designed?

The most embarrassing part of that statement is that, in reality, I knew better before I purchased it as I did spend part of my young career as a front-end and alignment specialist.

    Re: BD Diesel Parts

I've used this brace on all my Dodges and never had an issue, and I use my truck for work on the rigs.

Those lease roads are horrible for these dodges hence why all drilling companies go to Ford.

So I guess everyone is different.

Ideal plan - Install diff covers (Front & Rear) with drain plugs & easy fill service holes - Makes service Easy/Fast/Practically Mess-Free - These 2 are probably the most neglected services along with the Transfer Case!

BD diff covers are of the highest quality - Glad you didn't fall for the Gale Banks (Brain Washing Trick) - If you don't use my covers - Your Diffs Will or Could fail!

His products are incredibly high quality - but he needs to keep the stupid statements to a bare minimum.

    I love his I-Dash & Pedal Monster!
