    Recall Y78 - 2019-2020 RAMS

Just curious how the recall Y78, which will be mailed 1st of the year, will affect custom programs.

The recall is for 2019-2020 RAMS to replace and reprogram the high-pressure fuel pump.

If you look up the recall, l it tells production dates involved.

I was going to order an MM3 and tune, but now I wonder if I should wait.

Can the tune master chime in?

You should be fine if you set everything back to stock when you take the truck in.

    Then retune when done.

Probably better off with the CP3!

I'm curious if they will install an actual CP3 as the update?

I haven't seen anything to confirm the replacement pump is going to be a CP3.

I have a chassis cab truck, so I never ordered the S&S kit because they said it wasn't recommended for the cab and chassis trucks.

According to the inter-web, it seems possible considering Ford put out $3 billion for the Firestone recall in 2001.

My conservative guess is 500 million, and if they don’t have to pay all of it, it could be possible. CP3 Swap.

    Re: Recall Y78

I called a large RAM dealer in Missouri today and was told that since the dealer did an ECM update/flash to my truck in March of 2020, they cannot do the recall update until the new software is developed, expected mid-2023.

The service manager told me they would convert to a CP3; however, it takes new software that can't be loaded due to the currently flashed software.

I have no idea if this makes sense or not.

I'm also considering doing a delete, but I'm unsure if I should wait.

    TIA

I am waiting even though I have all the parts to delete on my 2020.

The Dr. told me to wait, but now I am getting the run around from the dealer.

I Have had the truck there once; they said they had to do an inspection, and when I got there, they said they had to run tests, which would take at least 3 hours.

I did not have time to wait 3 hours, so I rescheduled; they have since pushed the appointment back to next week.

I have not had any recalls, so hopefully, they can do the pump replacement and get on with my own updates.

    Re: Recall Y78

When I received the recall, I took my truck to my local dealer; they told me eight people were ahead of me waiting for the pumps to arrive.

And they can only order so many pumps per month.

So they also added me to the list and said when my pump arrived, they would contact me.

Also, it would likely not be before March before it came in.

It was September when I was added to the waitlist.

No inspection had to be done; they just verified my vin#.

    Re: Recall Y78

I am tempted to replace the pump myself and submit for reimbursement, but the Dr. says I should let the dealer do it since my MM3 is set for the new software; I could always get it tuned differently.

It is scheduled to go in next week, so I will see what they say.
