    All Sewn Up

Here’s a little before and after!

I bought a set of seats out of a 2014 and am putting them in my 2011, and the driver seat airbag had blown, so I sewed it up by hand!

I’m not Martha Stewart, but I think it turned out pretty good!

    Awesome job!

Did you also replace the airbag or just leave it like it is?

I’m curious if it will show an airbag light on the dash if you didn’t replace it?

    Thank You!!

No I did not replace the airbag.

My truck is a 2011 so it didn't have the seat airbags to begin with.

These seats came out of 2014, so I just sewed them up and installed them.

Now I have electric leather heated and cooled seats where originally I had cloth manual seats.

Any issues with the wiring harness for all the power goodies?

I'm going through a seat swap myself on my 2015 with some Laramie Limited seats.

In my research, it sounds like the 10-12 and 13-18 wiring harness/plugs is different.

I'd imagine the addition of airbags plays a small part in the harness change.

Yes, absolutely the wire harnesses are different.

Good thing I know how to read a schematic.

So far I have completely changed the dash harness, as the one that I had didn't have the pigtail for the dash buttons which turn the heated/cooled seats on and off.

I also had to change out the connector on the passenger seat as it did not match the truck side, apparently they changed the connector.

I also have had to splice into existing wiring in order to connect the heated seat module to the canbus and I've had to build a harness that went from the heated seat module over to the passenger seat to get it to work.

Other than having to buy a couple connectors from Moparpartsgiant.com I was able to re-use wire from the old dash harness in order to build my new harnesses, I also used AlphOBD to enable the heated and memory seat function in the computer.

As of now I have functional heated and cooled driver and passenger seats, next step will be to hook up the heated rear seats.

I wouldn’t mind adding heated rear seats to my truck.
