    Coolant Leak Issue

Over the past week, I've noticed coolant on the ground overnight on the passenger side under the reservoir area.

My coolant level sensors have been acting up.

    Coolants above the full line.

So earlier started ripping it apart tonight, looking for a leak, and scratching my head now.

I am not finding any apparent leaks.

There's coolant all over on the ac compressor lines running into the cab, and the heat wrap on the bottom of the coolant reservoir feels damp.

    Sides of its dry.

Has anyone here had a reservoir crack on them?

I did six pulls and no leaks at all.

Not sure what's going on with it.

I am going to look more into it tomorrow.

It looks like you have 2014 with dual radiators.

You said you've been having problems with your sensors.

    Are you having overheating issues?

Is it possible you have a head gasket leak?

Have you checked or replaced the revivor cap?

There are Y's for the cooling system.

    One driver and one passenger.

    Both are made of plastic.

Typically, it's the driver side I hear about cracking, but it is also possible for the passenger side.

    You can check that too.

The passenger side is buried and more challenging to get to.

You can borrow pressure test kits from your local parts stores.

You should be able to test the entire system and the cap separately.

I hope some of these helps.

I would start with the reservoir tank on the seams and work your way forward.

    Pressurize your tank.

You will definitely find the leak somewhere.

No overheating issues truck runs 185-190 and around 205-210 wot.

I am going to pressure test it this week and see.

I have a feeling it may be the reservoir.

Not sure why your reservoir is overfilled.

Did you check the coolant reservoir overflow outlet on the bottom front?

I installed clear tubing from that outlet to the front passenger side wheel well down by the frame.

This way, if my reservoir were to get overpressure or if the cap falls, I would know without making a mess all over.

Coolants just above the fill line.

I'll have to look at the overflow outlet.

    Clean area.

Wrap and tape paper towels around the reservoir or any other areas you might suspect.

The reservoir tank may not show a leak when it's cold.

Drive truck get ut up to full temp, and check the paper towels.

    Easier to spot.

    Re: Coolant Leak Issue

So I did a pressure test, and it's holding 20psi—no fluids coming from the reservoir.

And this morning, there was a spot on the ground hard to describe but below where the coolant bypass hose runs to the Hardline into the block but no signs of wetness on the block or piping upfront.

Hot, cold cycles? It's one of those Houdini leaks. going to combustion test it when I get my hands on one kind of stumped.

    Re: Coolant Leak Issue

Probably a good idea to do a combustion test to make sure the head gasket is sealed.

Sometimes the tiny leaks can be hard to locate. I had a small coolant leak at the turbo actuator, and the system would hold 20 psi for a couple of minutes before slowly bleeding down.

I ended up using an endoscope camera to find the leak location while still under pressure. Another possibility is the reservoir cap may not hold pressure and leak out the overflow while running.

You could test the cap, or you will be able to easily see if that’s the case by attaching a clear hose to the overflow port, as I mentioned in my previous post.

Also, if you removed the EGR cooler, you may want to put a small piece of white cardboard under the coolant riser “O” ring joint overnight.

Sometimes that “O” ring will leak intermittently, and the coolant will drop down and fall onto something beneath then show up on the ground later.
