Brake Fluid Flush?

I know Most probably never will do this service.

I'm just curious how often for those who perform this service - How often be it time or mileage?

I normally start with the Back/Passenger side & begin the flush - Then to the Back/Drivers side - Then to the Front/Passenger side - Then Drivers side. (I have my son - continually adding Fresh Brake Fluid into the reservoir) while my wife pumps the brake. (I watch the flow out of the caliper).

I have it in my service to do schedule - Suck out the Reservoir & refill every 25K miles & to perform the Full Flush service every 100K miles - with Castrol (synthetic) brake fluid.

I was just curious if I was the only one who performed this service on a regular basis.

I do understand that I might be the Odd Duck & have plans on keeping his 6.7L for more then 4-5 years - If I was only keeping her for a short time - I probably wouldn't even bother.

But since this is my last Truck Purchase - I'm servicing every system on a regular routine schedule.

I let them do it when I get new brakes, so like 80k-100k miles or whatever.

A little embarrassed to say I have never flushed my brake system.

I will when replacing the brakes.

On my last oil change a few months ago, I did pull the fluids out of the brake and power steering reservoirs and refilled them with the specified Mopar fluids.

I think I did this out of guilt.

I noticed the new brake fluid did look a little lighter color than what I removed.

I think most of us are in the same place.

I do change my brake fluid, but not often enough.

I rode large touring motorcycles, and fluid just a couple of years old led to much less responsive brakes on a big heavy bike.

It was really obvious, and I think because you have a lot more feedback.

The fluid turns dark as it attracts moisture.

Changing it will make the brakes more responsive and extend the life of the brake components.

I had a buddy recommend Red Line RL-600 since future med/heavy towing will be taking place.

It's a cheap insurance procedure to do every 2-3 years.

I have a Motive pressure bleeder, which is relatively simple compared to the old-school method.

Hence, I usually suck out old fluid, fill the reservoir with new, start at the corner farthest away, and work your way back to the closest corner to the MC, crack the bleeder screw until the bubbles stop flowing, and close the bleeder screw.

I had to do this service when I had no brakes on the interstate.

Changed brake fluid and power steering since the power steering pump adds power for the brakes.

240k miles was too much for the fluid.
