    Small Coolant Leak - 2012 RAM 3500 6.7L

Today when I backed my truck out of my garage, I noticed a small puddle of pink-colored coolant under where it was parked.

I looked under the truck, and it appears the leak is on the passenger side with coolant staining the oil filter and some other parts (pictures attached).

I just did an oil change last week, and the oil appeared fine.

There is no smoke coming from the exhaust, I checked the coolant level, and it is right up to the top, no smell anywhere in the engine or the cab, heater blows hot, no issues there.

I can't see anything from looking down on top of the engine with the hood open.

The thermostat and PID on RaceME Ultra have never shown any issues with overheating or excessive temps.

Had the coolant changed last year and no issues until now?

All PIDs on Raceme Ultra is expected, and I only run it on the 30hp tune.

Never push it to keep my throttle max around 50% only for short periods of accelerating up a hill etc.

Based on the one picture, it looks like it is possibly leaking out of where a hose goes to the turbo?

Or is it possible that the coolant is leaking above the turbo and just pooling a bit on the lip of the tube entering the turbo?

I kind of stumped on this one - any help or suggestions are all greatly appreciated.

    Thank You

Hard to say as the coolant gets blown around.

I would clean it up and do a coolant system pressure test.

With the truck parked and engine off, put 20 psi on the system, and you should be able to find where it’s leaking.

    Thanks for the input.

Here is another picture showing a different angle for where the coolant is leaking from.

It could be the coolant line going to the turbo or the banjo bolts.

I had a similar leak, and it was leaking from the turbo actuator.

If the banjo bolts are leaking, you can replace the sealing washers.

It looks from the turbo area, but it could be anywhere running down a frame rail or wiring harness, etc.

Like AK Bob said, pressure test your system after cleaning the mess first.

Guarantee you will find the leak.

    Re: Small Coolant Leak - 2012 RAM 3500 6.7L

I just had it looked at by the shop.

They are saying that it is the outlet tube.

Also known as a coolant standpipe (see link): 2010-2012 Mopar Outlet Tube 68048994AA | Canada Mopar Parts

It is pretty expensive for the part.

It may be something else since it has a bypass on it, and the bypass tube hooks up to the coolant standpipe, possibly an O-ring?

I have heard that this can be a source of problems from other places.

I will take a closer look this evening.

    Re: Small Coolant Leak - 2012 RAM 3500 6.7L

So it looks like the part that needs to be replaced is the o-ring where the standpipe connects to the EGR coolant tube.

I can't believe how expensive the o-ring is at the dealer.

Going to see about doing this myself or possibly having the shop do it.

Thanks for all the info, everyone.

    Re: Small Coolant Leak - 2012 RAM 3500 6.7L

I had the green o-ring replaced about a week ago.

I haven't noticed the leak come back, but I will keep an eye on it.

It usually happened when the truck sat for a few days, and that has not happened since the new o-ring was put in.
