    VGT Turbo Replacement

    Well got a couple of codes that popped up on my truck referring to the turbo and actuator.

    So instead of just replacing the actuator, I’m just going to change the whole thing and be done with it.

    I’m looking for suggestions on a VGT turbo replacement.

    I thought about a bd iron horn kit, but I don’t want to lose my exhaust brake.

    Any opinions and ideas will help.

    Thank you.

    I would go with a City Diesel Actuator.

    For the whole unit, I would go with a Fleece Cheetah.

    @DDP any suggestions or advice?

    Question for you, in the meantime, could I not use my exhaust brake?

    It seems like that’s what makes it get hung up and throws a code.

    Yes, you could certainly try that as a workaround for now.

    You may find the attached information from @DDP helpful.

    Thank you all for the help!

    I will likely need a need actuator, and I will probably try that first as a new turbo is a lot more money!

    Sorry, quite late but I came across a YouTube vid like 3 weeks ago that explained(don’t be alarmed) the vanes in the turbo can get warped a super sooted or something like that

    That was for someone who never used their exhaust brake.

    Also, I believe the actuator itself can also become sooted and stick.

    I could be wrong.
