    2020 RAM 2500 - DTC P227F

I have gotten this code three times recently with the “service air filter” message.

I’m entirely deleted with DRD tuning, and I have a sinister cold air intake, billet valve cover, and CP3 conversion.

I’ve had these mods on for a while, and it hasn’t thrown that message/code until now.

Been talking to DRD, and they have no idea what’s going on.

I can’t find any restriction or leak between the filter and MAF.

Does anyone else have this code, and what was the fix?

I cleaned the filter and tightened all the clamps, but still no luck.

    2020 Ram 2500 SO.

Is the arrow on the maf sensor pointed in the right direction? (to the turbo)

Does it happen at full throttle or normal driving?

Try cleaning the maf and monitor grams/sec or lbs/min pids.

The readings should rise smoothly if the maf is good and no leaks/restrictions.

    Yes arrow is pointed correctly.

    Happens under heavy throttle.

I will clean maf and other sensors.

Not sure if my MM3 can read those pids, I’ll check.

I have been driving around with these mods for 2+ months with no issues.

Now all of a sudden I’m getting this issue.

Is it an oiled filter or a dry filter?

    Dry.

Now after cleaning all sensor with MAF cleaner.

The turbo is making a really weird noise.

MAF reading lb/min looks good, they increase gradually, and I don’t see any weird things.

    I can’t find a leak anywhere.

And no other codes are being thrown.

But this new noise almost sounds like when your a kid, you took a blade of grass and put it between your lips and made that weird noise.

It kind of sounds like that under moderate to heavy boost/throttle.

I was wondering if perhaps you have an intake leak after the turbo.

I would do a pressure test with soapy water.

I am taking it to a diesel performance shop locally at 1 pm my time.

I will keep you all updated.

I cannot find anything, but something is going on.

It was running tits for a few months, then popped the P227F code, and now making a weird noise under higher boost.

I am going to nip this in the butt before it gets worse.

I will keep all of you posted.

    Update:

The shop got my truck all fixed up.

    I had a leak in 3 spots.

1: boot on the turbo was loose/slipped.

2: boot on the pipe from the turbo connected to the intercooler slipped due to a failed clamp; somehow, it was folded over bent.

3: a leak from a gasket on the intake side of the motor behind the intake heater due to a missing bolt.

The funny thing about #3 is I haven’t messed with the intake heater or anything behind it, so that bolt was missing from the factory.

    Or rattled loose.

All is good, and codes are gone, leaks are gone.

I hope this can help people in the future.
