    Injector Calibration Codes

Lots of folks are replacing injectors, some for more fuel and others simply replacing the worn-out originals.

My question is, must the calibration codes on the new injectors be entered into the ECM, or can the truck run just fine without?

I have both Autoenginuity and AlfaOB but have not been able to find any options to write the codes to the ECM.

Are you folks installing the new injectors and then having the dealership enter the calibration codes or simply not doing it?

Just curious, maybe this information will help others who are thinking about replacing their injectors.

    Re: Injector Calibration Codes

It’s only early 6.7s that have calibration codes.

I think 12 and below don’t quote me on that though I’m unsure about the years.

With quality aftermarket injectors, it’s not so much of an issue. Most are matched within 2% of each other.

I think it was Dynomite diesel performance who tested multiple sets of OEM factory injectors and found variations across groups up to 10%.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge, very much appreciated.

After reading your reply, I went back into AlfaOBD and checked earlier model years, and you are correct.

From 2012 back, they provided an option called “Injector Quality Adjustment” that allows for injector calibration code entry.

So I am assuming that if you are replacing injectors on anything older than 2013, you would probably want to enter the corrected codes because the codes already in the ECM could throw things off, correct?

If the factory injectors are being replaced with stock injectors, then yes, they should be programmed.

Now when swapping to aftermarket bigger injectors, I never have entered the code.

I never had any issues either.
