    RaceME Install

I just bought a RaceME Ultra.

Do I have to update it before I install it on the truck?

No, you can install it as is.

It is best to update it to get any new features and fix any quirks.

Just know sometimes, when updating, you have to reflash the tune.

You are going to have to baby your transmission for a while if you have a 68RFE.

I don't know about the Aisin trans, though.

Generally, how long would you recommend babying the tranny?

Also, is there any issue with highway driving during the baby phase?

I have a 30 minute all highway commute to work one way.

Here are the instructions from Revmax that many of us do after we flash to protect the trans:

You will now take the vehicle out for the initial test drive, do not exceed 30% throttle or 2000RPM.

Allow transmission to shift all the way up to sixth gear AND back down to first at least 10 times.

If full power is given, immediate transmission failure will occur and you will be responsible for repair charges.

You must keep throttle below 50% at all times during this cycle. Drive the vehicle for a MINIMUM of 3 days.

The truck must be allowed to rest overnight and go from HOT to COLD engine and transmission temperatures.

During this time period it is best to have a MINIMUM of 200 miles STOP AND GO driving.

Highway driving does not count and will not drive learn the transmission

That's how I did mine also.

I keep the tuner at the lowest hp setting, once I get about 200 miles in I go to the switch setting and crank it up.

You also were to keep the exhaust brake off, and I do t us tow-haul mode either until the time is up.

Driving on the highway at hw speeds doesn't count because it needs to run through the gears.

Here is the link to the instructions scroll down till you find for the 68RFE.

    Trans Relearn Process from Revmax:

Step 1: You will now take the vehicle out for the initial test drive, do not exceed 30% throttle or 2000RPM.

Allow transmission to shift all the way up to sixth gear AND back down to first at least 25 times.

Step 2: Begin the initial drive learn cycle.

You must keep the throttle below 50% at all times during this cycle.

Drive the vehicle for a MINIMUM of 3 days.

The truck must be allowed to rest overnight and go from HOT to the COLD engine and transmission temperatures.

During this time period, it is best to have a MINIMUM of 200 miles STOP AND GO driving.

Highway driving does not count, and will not drive learn the transmission.

    68RFE Relearn Process

If your 2010+ Ram is equipped with the 68RFE automatic transmission, you must perform a relearn procedure each time the ECM is flashed, even if you aren’t loading transmission tuning.

Failure to do so will cause premature transmission failure.

After the ECM is flashed, drive the truck and apply no more than 30% throttle for at least 25-30 miles to perform the procedure.

The transmission must shift up and down as much as possible during this period.

NOTE: The 25-30miles is to re-establish the CVI values.

It is common for these transmissions to take 400-500 miles or more to settle down.

Sustained highway speeds should be avoided for the first25-30 miles.

If you purchased a tuned TCM for your 2007.5-2009 68RFE equipped RAM, you must perform the same relearn process upon installing the TCM.

    Re: RaceME Install

If you plan on getting custom tunes, you should download the latest firmware 1st.

The reason for this is your custom tunes may not work after a firmware upgrade.

Hopefully, RaceME will figure out a solution to this.

After loading RaceME, you will find the version number, which could very well be the latest firmware.

    Re: RaceME Install

My RaceME will be here next Wednesday.

Is it safe for me to take the truck around the block a few times and up to highway speed once or twice, no more than 15-20 miles, to make sure everything is copacetic before swapping in my delete pipe?

I will need to drive the truck in the morning, so I would like to make sure everything will run fine before tearing it into the exhaust.

After that, I will take it out on the back roads as much as before bed.

I need to be able to drive 30 miles to work the following morning.

Your soot cookers will clog up reasonably quickly, so I wouldn’t risk doing that unless you want to be in limp mode.
