So nothing has to do with my current transmission?
I'm confused why I would want to compare the rebuilt parts with the Revmax site.
Thanks for the info.

Correct, Revmax is not going to rebuild your stock transmission.
You could take a look and see what all they put into a built transmission for $8000.
If this guy is charging you $4500 to throw new clutches in, you can get an idea of the value/quality of the shop build.

That makes sense.
This shop did mention a lot of things they'd replace and put in there, but I get the feeling they'll provide me a list prior.
Especially if I ask.

Maybe it's a steal of a deal, but from what I've seen, $4500 sounds like what it might cost to get your transmission back working well to hold around stock power.
You're probably not getting a beefed-up built transmission to hold 700hp.
I'd ask them; they should know what kind of power it will hold if they build a lot of 68RFEs.

That's fair.
I got another quote from a different company for $5300 just for rebuilding it.
This guy said 4500, and he mentioned putting some better components in there.
He didn't give me the impression that he was going to beef it up too much, just gave me the impression that based on the questions he was asking, he was aware of what the transmission needed.
The other two places I talked to didn't ask me any questions about the truck or how I use it, and they just gave me a price.
I will ask for a components list when he gets to that point because they require a $1,000 down payment before they start work, so I feel it's reasonable to ask what all they are going to be replacing when I pay them that $1,000

Here is what the final breakdown was.
Curious how this compares to similar jobs.

It’s fair.
A little high for a stock of drum trans rebuild, but if they replaced the drum with a Sonnax drum, it’s about spot on.
Their parts seem high, but the laborers are pretty cheap, though.
I would like to see a couple more parts added to the build, but that’s just me.

They said they rebuilt it with a Sonnax valve body if that's the same thing.
Okay, part pricing makes sense now if they bought a built valve body vs. building yours.
But no, that’s not the same thing.
