    Wheel Bearing Hub Assembly

Glad I fixed this issue before my 1,400-mile trip this weekend.

It never gave any warning it was going bad.

I discovered this while rotating my tires.

I tried to post a video, but it wouldn’t let me.

My left front tire was literally about to fall off.

I check mine now and again.

Did you not hear anything in the truck?

    Like the old growling sounds?

No, not one peep out of it, which really surprised me.

I wish I could get the video to upload.

    It wasn't good.

I had the same thing happen to me.

Left-front bearing completely exploded coming back from a camping trip.

No funky noises or prior warning.

Thankfully it happened within a few miles of home, and I was able to limp it home.

After further investigation, the only thing holding the wheel on was the caliper bracket (bracket definitely took one for the team and had to be replaced)

Needless to say, I keep a close eye on them now.

Usually, they start dragging or roaring, glad you found it before it got ugly.

I recommend Timken hubs/bearings for anyone that can wait for them to come in the mail.

Yeah, I would go that route, but this was an emergency fix before heading out on my trip.

Glad I caught it when I did.

    Re: Wheel Bearing Hub Assembly

It was always a concern of mine, reading about these front wheel bearing failures.

So I installed the Spyntech free wheeling hub kit, upgrading to the Warn hub.

Now I have serviceable front wheel bearings, and my front axle and driveshaft no longer rotate all the time.

While doing this, I found my driver's side axle joint was shot.

I replaced it while I was in there.
