2018 RAM 5500 - N0101 Code?

[F350Cummins]

Make sure we know the year of the truck: 2018 RAM 5500

What transmission: AISIN

What modifications does this vehicle have: 100% Stock

This is a truck under FMCSA guidelines, and during inspections can't have a CEL on.

A quick google search does not turn up an N0101 code.

A P0101 is a mass airflow code, and it was changed in a failed attempt to clear the code.

This truck has been an ongoing "Battery Saver Mode" issue truck, and the last work performed was by the dealer about 3 months ago (20K miles ago), including a new TCM, a new cluster, new grid heater, new grid heater controller, 2 new batteries, a new intelligent battery charge harness, and a new ECM.

We are not even sure that the battery saver mode was repaired, as it would only come on when it was cold, and the dealer dragged their feet so long the weather warmed up.

So Any Ideas on an N0101 code? (Screenshot attached reflecting code in the computer)

What can I look at?

Before we send this back to the dealer and have them sit on it for a month again.....

The dealer is unsure of the answer and can't seem to get a meaning to the code.

No trans issues, and it seems to correspond with battery saver mode, now that I have been fighting this and playing with this damn error for a year on and off

I'm not up to speed on the battery-saving mode.

Would it or can you disable battery saving mode permanently or even for troubleshooting.

I know dealerships say they can't and do certain things, but people who do tuning can do those things if that makes sense.

If I can get ahold of a friend who works on only HD trucks with Cummins, I will ask him.

He is up north of me and spends part-time at his shop running it, and the rest is mobile on-site repairs.

His work trucks are 4500 and 5500 platforms.

You can't disable battery saver mode on these trucks.

It is an automatically triggered self-protection mode triggered by the ECM in which it shuts off nonessential electrical items in the vehicle. (BTW, apparently trailer brakes is nonessential)

In another thread, I have mentioned all of what the dealer has replaced under warranty.

It's a lot, and they still don't know what's wrong almost a year later.

What scan tool was used to pull that code?

That’s not a witech scan report.

That code doesn’t bring up anything in service Info.

I’m surprised FCA hasn’t sent a tech advisor in yet.

Usually, once the term lemon law gets thrown around, they send one out and fix the truck.

It sounds like you got inexperienced techs at your local dealership.

If you want to pm me the VIN, I’ll look into what was replaced and the reasoning behind it. I’ll probably be able to give you more insight into the problem as well.

The B+ circuit the PCM looks at to verify the charging system is relatively simple.

What scan tool was used to pull that code? (3 different scanners have pulled that code including my Snap-On and my mm3) I don't know what scanner gave the screenshot.

It sounds like you got inexperienced techs at your local dealership. Usually they are right on at this dealer, but this is the first time I have ever brought something there and not had it fixed. (10 years going there for warranty related issues).
