    Steering Box Bolt Torque Spec?

Hey everyone, I am installing a new steering box and need some help finding the steering box mounting bolt torque spec for my 2012.

My Haynes manual says 235 ft-lbs.

I want to double-check with you guys because it definitely did not feel like it was torqued to that high of torque when I took the box off.

I really don't want to snap anything off.

    Thanks for the help!

That sounds like tq for the steering shaft nut, not the box to frame mounting bolts.

Honestly, I hit the frame mounting bolts with an impact and the steering shaft nut with a bigger impact.

I found the correct torque for the steering box mounting bolts.

    It is 145 ft-lbs.

I work in aviation, where everything with threads has a torque value assigned to it, so because of that, it has ruined me for having to know that every bolt is properly torqued.

Corrosion is another thing working in this field that has made my eye gets drawn to and causes undue anxiety when I find a rusty bolt.

I have to clean and treat it, or I feel like whatever that bolt is holding on is just going to fall off at any minute.

It is a sickness sometimes, haha.

    All jokes, boss.

Suppose I bothered ever to buy one. I'd use it too.

    Oh, I know.

Before the Navy, everything was German torque.

Gutentight was all I needed, haha.
