    2017 RAM 3500 - Thuren Suspenion Installed

    My THUREN kit, finally installed.

I did this a week before a 4000-mile road trip.

    I installed Thuren
    Coils 2.25
    Adj Trac bar
    Synergy drag link
    Active rate sway bar
    Front booger bumps
Fox 2.0 Resi rear Fox 2.0 w pigs

    Big improvement over OEM junk.

I didn't realize, but one stock driver front shock was leaking.

The pass side (coil bucket). If that's what it's called.

The thing was dog-eared and folded under coil from factory install.

The entry on bumps and separation sections on the road are absorbed and smoothed.

I have a long bed and noticed I don't feel the rear end smack collapse

As before and nicer and predictable, pulling into a driveway or turn in.

No major sway and now better articulation when doing this.

The one thing I did do to help the looks and to combat corrosion.

Spray FLUID FILM on all parts before my long trip.

Great stuff for this, and it's good stuff to aid

    Assembling things.

Because I have a long bed, the 2 25 coils were perfect at the height.

A short bed may look a little nose high but the long bed doesn't.

    Here are some pictures.

This is the 3rd truck with Thuren suspension.

Thanks to Don and his staff for these products

    Looks dam good, my friend!

Thuren is hands down our favorite and one of the only ones we try to keep stock of.

Re: 2017 RAM 3500 - Thuren Suspenion Installed

Update: I have put almost 7k miles on the truck since installing the Thuren setup.

No issues, sounds, or different road manners. If anything, it feels not as rigid.

The active rate sway bar Feels smooth and consistent, if that makes sense.

    So it's breaking in.

Thuren explains on his website for maintenance and grease etc.

Just as he explained, the trackbar will not accept grease until it breaks in.

I tried to grease it when it was first installed, but after I had a long road trip after 4k miles, it took grease and the sway bar links, etc.

I installed a Synergy drag link, and I couldn't grease one end.

Not without using a 90-degree grease tip or if I swapped in a90 degree grease zirt.

Before installing the fox shocks, I did clean prep and masked off, and I added a couple of clear coats to the shock and resi bodies.

We don't have salt on our roads here, but we have pumice which is liquid sandpaper.

I'm still pondering if guards for the rear shocks are worth it.

Oh, and another thing I do and did to the suspension pieces and a spray over joints and places that could rust. I use fluid film.

It's good cheap and is easy to apply.

I'd recommend that the guards for the rears pumice blast the shafts and Fox 2.0 already has a reputation for leaking.

    @Nukldragger

Are fox shocks known for leaking because end users are not installing shock boots, are the wipers seals are not great, or are steel shafts?

I am at fault for not putting on shock boots on the last truck. Shafts started to rust and pit within one season cycle in pa.

    @DIESELWRKS,

Excellent write-up and would be helpful to others to continue to provide updates.

I couldn’t tell you precisely why they leak; most I’ve heard about are California trucks that don’t see a lot of hard use.

It could be the seal material doesn’t hold up well on a daily drive.

We ran Fox 2.5 bypass shocks and coil carriers in short course racing for several years and never had leaks, but short course trucks only see the equivalent of maybe 500 miles a year, and the shocks get cleaned up between each round of racing, so not a fair comparison on.

I ran Fox 2.5 smooth bodies on my 2nd gen for a while, and they never leaked.

I’d suggest the shaft guards, not the shock boots.

I can’t see if the shaft seals are leaking without pulling the boots back, and nobody ever pulls the boots back to clean/inspect.

I'll do a more extensive update here soon when I have 10k miles on the lift.

The only thing I have noticed is that I have just under a 1/4 drop in height in the front, or it could be my tires wearing.

I don't really have any complaints.

I did not put shock boots on because water will still get in the boots.

The fine pumice dust carries with the water and will stick and stay inside the boot.

I've looked online for the guards, and to me, they cost more than they should.

I can make a curve piece the contour of the shock and pit a stainless hose clamp on it.

But I will probably put a thin piece of weatherstrip between the clamp so grim doesn't work its way behind and wear into the coating.
