    RaceME Ultra Display/Connectivity Issue

2016 Ram 3500 with RaceME purchased from Franz/Michael last Dec.

I have a problem with display unit (perhaps connectivity issue?) when starting vehicle.

display remains blank and LED flashes twice red / once green / twice red… then repeats.

I contacted customer service and Michael responded first to do the following:
Do the following all with KeyOFF
    Remove SD card from screen
Unplug OBD cable and USB cable from screen for one minute
    Plug back USB cable
    Do not insert SD card
Key must stay in OFF position
    Plug in OBD cable
    Start tuner by touching screen
    Tuner must start again
Turn tuner OFF and insert SD card
Now do a Key ON and tuner should start again

that fixed it at first - but then it happened again. So I contacted customer service again… Michael replied that it’s probably a connectivity issue and sent me a new micro USB. (Plug goes from the box to the display)

now it’s happening again…. I have sent two emails to customer service at www.RaceMEofficial.com with no reply. Tried sending a message to their “contact us” link at the website but I get the spinning wheel of death and it won’t send. Then I tried calling raceMEcanada and wasn’t able to get any assistance because they, of course, don’t deal with issues from sales in Austria. I wasn’t expecting anything other than maybe “yep, we have heard of that and this is what you need to do” or something like that.

Anyone have any ideas? It’s only really a problem for me because I like to switch from performance to towing quite a bit and cannot do it unless the display is operable.

On a side note: in order for me to get it to work I need to unplug from OBD port and re-plug back in with engine running. And then it works / or sometimes it doesn’t…

I think the display is fine - most likely a connectivity issue. I’m thinking the cable that plugs in from the box to the OBD is the culprit.

Would appreciate opinions other than “buy something new”. Less than a year old I’d like to get this to work properly.

    thanks…

nope… RaceME plugs directly into OBD port. No splitter.

Apparently low battery voltage can cause this issue, at least with the MM3 tuner anyway. You may want to load test or replace both engine batteries if one or both are getting weak.

Gonna replace the batteries….. 5 years old so they’re due.

Did a quick search here but didn’t find anything of substance.

Opinions please: lead acid or AGM…? Other than the $50 extra for AGM at Advance Auto, any pros or cons?

I went with AGM batteries just over two years ago and have been happy with them so far. Here is an interesting link for a battery review that you may find interesting.
