How is this accomplished?

The CTS-II has a user-settable countdown timer that will hold the truck's "RUN" command hot (via the OBD port) after the key is turned off.

Thus you can park & lock the truck with the engine running for a predetermined amount of time.

Once the timer has timed out, it cuts power to the engine RUN relay, and the truck turns off.

You can also set the CTS-II turbo cool down function to run controlled by the EGT level (exhaust gas temperature level), but it's more involved.

The countdown timer method is simple & cheap and works fine, so that is what I use.
With a little ingenuity you could probably build your own cooldown timer without buying an EDGE CTS unit.

I haul well over my GVWR and drive the interstate like an angry old man in a big hurry so the turbo cool-down cycle was a must-have item for my truck.
