    Coopers Tire VS. Toyo Tires

    Hey guys,

I ordered some leveling parts from Thuren last week and am scoping tires.

I’ve run multiple sets of Toyo ATIIs on previous rigs and, most recently, a set of Cooper AT3 XLTs on my last truck before it was totaled.

I’ve been stock on my 19 for the last 2 years and am seeing some good reviews on the Toyo ATIIIs and am considering them now.

Does anyone have feedback between the newer Toyos and the Coopers?

I was super pleased with my Coopers, but after reading about the new Toyos, I am considering them now.

I can only speak from my experience, and I'm sure it will vary from others.

Still, my entire experience with most of the Toyos I've owned (OC ATIII and OC RT) is that they were great for the first 15k miles or so and then just seemed to get "glossy" and break free in wet weather more than any brand I've used.

I'm currently riding on General Grabber A/TX, which were the first ones from General I've purchased, and I have about 35k miles on them and am exceedingly happy.

    That said, I've also had Cooper's AT3, and I can't complain.

They were a great tire too.

Not the best for wet snow and mud, but not the worst either.

If I had to pick between the two you mentioned, given my own experience with Toyo, I'd go with the Coopers every time.

I know Toyo makes some good tires; I've just never had any that made me feel like I got my money's worth out of them on a truck.

I had a great set of Toyo M154 on my Class A motorhome.

Lasted well and ultimately aged out as opposed to wearing out.

    So there is that.

    YMMV

    Thanks for the input.

My previous Toyo experiences have been positive—but so was my Cooper’s.

I think I’m leaning in that direction.

I have had a great experience with my ATIII.

This is compared to my first set of KO2 going out in roughly 10k miles.

Due to the cost, I have been considering a set of Kenda Klever RT for my next go around.

I like the ATIII and would rebuy them.

However, I do notice what the first guy said.

They tend to break loose easier after a certain point.

At the end of the day, I feel that's splitting hairs.

You can't go wrong with them.

My last set was 35" Cooper AT3 XLT's, and they did really well until I went to 37" Mickey Thompson's.

When I buy tires, I look for one's made in the USA then decide from there.

    Happy tire shopping.

Check out the Cooper Rugged Trek.

    I may go with them.

I put Toyo Open Country AT3 on my 2019 3500 dually.

They ride good ,are quiet, and don’t hang on to the Little Rock’s

I have about 1500 miles with and without my toy hauler. I am happy with them so far.

    Decision made.

I ordered the Toyos and some Method 305 NV HD 18’s to wrap them on.

I was pretty dead set on the wheels (I ran them on my 16 before I wrecked it), which drove my decision.

It also came down to tire size.

I’ve run 37’s and 35 class on my previous multiple Cummins trucks.

I decided to go with 37’s for this round, and only the Toyos had a 37” tire in that wheel size.

I’ll post pics once I get the Thuren parts on the truck and the tire/wheel combo.

Thanks for the opinions and inputs!

I finally got around to putting my parts on.

Toyos were on backorder, so I ended up going with my old standby. 285 75/18 Coopers.

    Probably the smarter choice anyway.

Suspension is 2.75” Thuren/Fox upfront and 1” Thuren/Fox in the back.
