P0740 Code / Limited OD

68RFE is needing replaced or at least a rebuild?

I started by not wanting to shift into OD.

It will, but you are coasting downhill at around 60mph.

Then immediately shifts down once the throttle is applied.

I can comfortably drive at around 155 degrees as long as I'm moving.

In and around town, the temp creeps up to 180?

Pull an 18ft trailer with maybe a 5k pound load around, and it'll get to around 200 degrees in about 15 miles.

Like I said, no OD. I've been nursing it for the last 1k miles and don't plan on towing or making long trips.

I have DRD tunes and keep it on the 90hp setting and rarely "get on it."

I mainly got rid of DEF and increased fuel mileage.

I don't intend on sled pulling or boosted launches.

I checked with a local guy who quoted $7200, but I've heard good/bad opinions on him.

I'm debating purchasing a mildly built trans and installing myself or finding someone local that people trust.

I'm in Greenville, SC.

Revmax sells a 450 hp trans for what I consider a fair price at $4500.

You can always make a day trip with a rental truck to Charlotte, so you don't have to pay the core charge.

Either your solenoid pack is fried, or you need to get the trans to go shift kit as it has new springs for your pump and various.

My trans was overheating all the time with load, and my solenoid pack was fried so did it up and all fine meow.

92k on the truck and never serviced.

I had hoped to make it to a 100k and do a fluid and filter change like my last truck.
