    FCA Recall #Y26

The recall impacts 2012 through 2021 model year RAM 3500 Heavy Duty Trucks, 3500 Cab Chassis, 4500 Cab Chassis, and 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles, which were manufactured by Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) from April 2011 through May 2021.

So that would involve reading the wheel torque instructions in the first place.

I wonder what the new correct torque is now and why it took so long to figure out they have been publishing the wrong information.

I crank mine down with a breaker bar, so I'm sure I'm a prime candidate for losing some studs.

    Direct from the recall report:

"The manufacturer’s engineering division continued to collect field parts and investigate the root cause of the stud failure, which ultimately determined the M14 studs and flanged lug nuts torque specification listed in the Service and Owner’s Manual information was incorrect."

Flanged lugnuts would be on DRW trucks not SRW. SRW trucks have coned or acorn lugnuts. Sounds more like they bought a batch of bad or inferior studs and now its coming back to haunt them. I have always used a torque wrench on lug nuts and set mine at 125 lb/ft for my truck as I have a SRW which should not be affected, hopefully. I go as far as to re-torque lugs after a shop has had their hands on them. Manual says 130 for coned so even better that I shouldn't have an issue.

    FCA Recall #Y26

    Yes, I guess so.

I found out that mine is affected by signing in to www.Mopar.com (shows Y26 recall is incomplete for my VIN).

They should be sending out the notifications sometime next month.

    Thanks again, my friend.

I will check out the link tomorrow.

Since mine is an SRW, it shouldn’t be affected, crossing my fingers.

I just logged in to Mopar.com, and it shows no recalls as of today.

The DRW trucks would generally be subjected to higher weights which is what most likely lead to this issue.

Glad they are stepping up and fixing it.
