2010 RAM 2500 - Random Hesitation With Loss Of Power

    Hey guys, I need help.

My 2010 RAM 2500 Cummins has a random hesitation, loss of power, and puffing white smoke.

This is completely random but does seem to happen more often while it's cold.

The truck is deleted and tuned.

Any input in trying to diagnose this is extremely appreciated.

I really appreciate any help you can provide.

When was the last time you changed out your fuel filter?

Does it puff out white smoke after it warms up to operating temperature or just when the engine is cold?

How many miles do you have on it, who tuned your truck, and what tuner are you using?

Thank you, watersupply189, for your response.

I'm at 122000 miles on the truck, and I am running an MM3 with DRD tunes; I did the fuel filter with the last oil change.

The problem I'm having only happens some mornings and stops as soon as I hit the throttle and then randomly throughout the day while driving.

I’m wondering if you may have an injector issue or something?

Anybody else on this forum had something like this happen to them?

Hopefully, someone will chime in shortly, friend.

I haven’t had this issue, but I agree it sounds like an injector is possibly sticking open now and then.

First, I would recommend running a bottle of Archoil AR6400-D cleaner through the system (12oz in a full tank) and see if that helps.

You could also monitor fuel pressure actual and desired to see if the actual keep up with desired.

    Thanks, @AK Bob!

I will give that stuff a try.

For the last couple of years, I used Cummins-approved fuel additive and sometimes Hot Shot.

This morning I was driving, and all of a sudden, it felt like it was in the stock mod or just lack of power all around.

I checked the codes, and now I have another 2, have P0401, P2262, and P226C.

I looked these codes up, but I don't know what they mean for my truck; I am still trying to learn these new truck systems.

It sounds like your turbo may be sooted up with the P226 and P226C.

If so, regular use of the Archoil AR6400-D Cleaner should help with that also.

The P0401 could be several things; see attached PDF to help troubleshoot.

Please keep us posted on your progress.
