Need Help - Steering Knuckle Issues

    Good afternoon everyone!

    I require some help.

    I have a 2012 2500 4wd the I am pretty sure I require a new driver-side steering knuckle.

The tie rod ends, once torqued in is pulled up way too far into the taper.

At first, I thought it was just another junk Moog part that I got when I replaced the tie rod.

So I ordered a synergy one, and the result is the same.

The cotter pin hole is above the castellated on the nut.

I have been searching for one, but I can't find one anywhere.

Does anyone have some advice on where I could find one or maybe like a repair sleeve or something for the one that I have?

    Any help would be appreciated.

So I was doing some looking, and I found that they make repair sleeves for a lot of steering knuckles.

I emailed a place that looks like they may make them.

Do you guys know of any places that may already have them available?

Unless the tie rod was somehow loose in the knuckle, the taper area of the steering knuckle where the tie rod seats should not see any wear.

I’d double-checked your parts to confirm they are for the correct application.

If the taper on the tie rod matches the taper on the knuckle, it could be that the holes for the cotter pins are just drilled in a higher than normal location.

    The tie rod is correct.

It is only the one knuckle that is doing it, and it has done the same thing with two different tie rod ends.

I see that there are repair sleeves out there; I am just having difficulty finding one with the 9.5 degrees taper that ours have.

Most that I am finding is a 7-degree taper sleeve.

Have you checked with local salvage yards for a used steering knuckle?

I was thinking about at least trying that.

I think it is the same knuckle from 2010 to 2012.

2013 they went to the auto-locking axle, didn't they?

Yes, it looks like 10-13 3500 & 2500; see fitment chart in the link.

Does the taper fit the tie rod?

If so, put a nylon lock nut on it.

That’s how all the newer 2500-5500 come from the factory now.
