G56 - Synchro Keys And Springs - Metal Chunks In The Fluid

So i finally got my truck taken to the shop to replace the entire clutch assembly with my south bend.

I asked them if the fluid was low, then drain and refill.

So they drained the fluid and sent me pictures after they called me to let me know what they found:

There are two synchro keys and pieces of the springs in the fluid.

I've always had an intermittent clunk/grind going into 3rd from 2nd, so I don't know if this happened before my throw-out bearing going.

    Does anyone know?

Can I get the fluid refilled and DD put in, and I should be good until I can get it rebuilt?

This shop says they don't rebuild transmissions, and since I'm working 550 miles out of town, getting anything done is fairly difficult since I work 6 10s a week.

Does no one know if missing synchro keys causes the occasional grind into 3rd gear?

    Yes, they will.

Eventually, the rest of that synchro will blow up and take out gear clusters.
