    Leveling Kit Myths And Truths?

    What's up, everybody?

    After a moment and some research, I have concluded that Ghost (2018 2500) needs some new rubber and a dash of something different.

    Before anyone sets their opinions on tire sizes and offsets, I'm going mall hopper.

    Just what I want this truck to look like.

    I understand the downfalls of doing that and that other than appearance, it serves no purpose.

    We can all get along, and I appreciate the guys that like to keep them a little more tucked in and functional.

    I feel there is a place for both in this world, and if it's not your style, that's fine!

    So here's to the question... I'm going with a leveling kit.

    Seen plenty of trucks that run level with bigger and wider than factory tires/wheels. (It's not going where you think of fitment, not the question).

    The question is, I read on another forum somewhere that leveling spacers put a strain on other parts in the front end, and the only correct way is to have a full pledge kit that includes many new front end parts.

    Like fully adjustable track bar, upgraded steering stabilizer, and that because of the "pinch" from the spacers that it will increase the wear on other parts and the probability of death wobble with bigger/wider wheels and tires.

    Hoping someone can give some insight on if it really is necessary to do all the front-end parts just for a leveling kit?

    If that's the case probably going to go a different route, wait a bit (like a couple more years), and lift because of the cost.

    Do I need to worry about death wobble, wearing out wheel bearings, and other parts?

    The plan is to run 14 wide wheels with an offset of -76 with 33s.

    Any experienced advice would be greatly appreciated.

    I run the Rough Country-level kit and have 35x12.50 with 18” wheels -12 offset.

    I’ve put 70,000 miles with this setup and (knock on wood) haven’t had any issues.

    Everything is still good and tight.

    Get a proper alignment after installing a level kit, and you'll be fine.

    I'd say that most issues after installing a level kit are due to not getting routine alignments.

    IMO, the -76 offset wheels will do more to stress front-end parts than any 2in the level kit.

    Don't forget to post pics when you get it all installed.

    Running a wheel setup with a -76 offset will do significantly more damage than having a level kit.

    Personally, I would not even consider a wheel with that offset as it'll most likely rub and limit lock to lock turning.

    As for a level kit, I don't like spacers.

    A nice set of coils like Carli or Thuren will ride night and day difference.

    Also, don't forget the track bar.

    Replacing the stocker with a quality adjustable one is a great addition as well.

    I have always been a negative advocate of any suspension mods.

    After 10 years on the forum, I've noticed just about everyone that does a suspension mod has a problem.

    It doesn't matter what you spend.

    As an engineer, my opinion is, leave it alone.

    The factory has the geometry pretty well figured out.
