FWIW, I deleted my grid heater and added a Banks 3.5" intake at the same time.
No code, no tuning change, though the truck was previously DRD tuned.
First, mod/combo mod gave me a very noticeable increase in fuel efficiency. Rolling on 38's with stock gearing, i was averaging 19-22 on the freeway cruising at 60-65 (I have actually calculated, and my truck's computer is within .01 MPG accuracy), and about 16-17 mixed.
After the mod, solid 23 on the freeway, 19.X mixed, and that were going over a pass that tank.
The truck does chug for about 10 seconds on cold start now unless it is pretty warm out.
I definitely will be using a block heater this winter.

What mods did you do to get that increase?
I currently have DRD tunes and an Air Dog installed.
Just now looking into doing the grid heater delete.
