    68RFE or 48RE Question

When I bought my truck, it just said "Transmission upgrade" the seller couldn't say what it was.

The only thing I can figure out is it locks up in overdrive almost like listed on MM3 tuning (torque converter lockup in 2nd, etc)

How can I figure out what's been done to it?

Will appcar/alfaobd be able to see if it's software, and what do I look out for?

The ultimate question, is, is it a 68RFE or 48RE?

    It's a 2006 5.9L Cummins.

    Re: 68RFE or 48RE Question

    I don't think anyone would upgrade the 48RE for a 68RFE.

More people actually swap the 68RFE for the 48RE.

If you look at the gear present on the MM3, does it go to 4 or 6? 4 speed vs. 6-speed auto.

    Agreed, if you have 6 gears, it's a 68.

The first year for the 68RFE was 2007.

    You got a 48RE.
