    Transmission Oil Color? - 2015 6.7L CTD 2500

So quick run down, I have a 2015 6.7L CTD 2500 with 90k on the odometer.

I had my transmission serviced about 7k miles ago, and they took pictures super clean.

I then had it deleted with a trans tune at 170psi Tune.

I went today and stopped by RevMax and grabbed a ZeroStat trans bypass cooler to bring temps down.

I dropped about 1.75 quarts in changing it and filled up a quart jar of the trans fluid.

It looks very dark to me versus factory trans new fluid?

Keep in mind I had it completely flushed with filters changed 7k miles ago and looked great.

    Should I be worried?

I keep it on stock HO settings.

No shavings etc., in it even stuck a powerful magnet, nothing.

    Is this due to temps?

Was it the same brand of oil as what came out of it from the factory?

It could be the way the trans fluid was manufactured.

It could be from just a different manufacturer of fluid, but putting the thermal bypass in will be very noticeable.

It’s one of the best things you can do for your truck.

I wouldn’t worry about the different fluid colors.

Chrysler Dodge Jeep of Salisbury did the Flush and transmission service to assume Mopar oil, but who knows if they actually flushed it or just dropped the fluid and change filters.

You never know nowadays with these dealerships.

About to pull our camper in a few weeks from NC down into the Florida keys, so I figured it would only do it well to put the bypass on there.

Florida temps get pretty hot, and the color it runs, the better.

I guess my worst fear is a trans going out on a long trip and then being stuck having to get it all back home to get a Revmax put in.

    That's a true friend.

I asked specifically what oil was used at the forest city dealer service manager when I had then changed the oil, and he said Mopar.

I walked back and asked the tech, a barrel of Quaker State.

Unfortunately these days - Stealerships are pretty much like fast lube places - When it comes to any type of Fluid Changes.

If I personally didn't witness them opening the containers of Lubricant & pouring it in - I will not trust what is actually being put into my expensive investment.

If they drag that long black hose down from the ceiling and adjust the (Gallon Quantity) on the nozzle and begin pumping - You have no Idea what is actually in that bulk tank or 55 gallon drum (On the Other End).

If you trust them on what they tell you - what is in those bulk tanks? (If they actually will share that info with you) - You My Friend are Very Gullible!

This is why I have always & will continue to DO ALL my fluid changes - (As Long as my body allows me to bend/twist/crawl/scoot - underneath and on top.

Most shops don’t bypass the thermostat when they hook up the flush machine.

They definitely don’t get all the stuff out of the cooler.

The only way to properly flush a trans is to use a hot flush machine.

Transmission rebuild shops are about the only shops that spend the money for the hot flush machines.

I’ve worked in five different dodge dealerships; every one of them used Pennzoil for bulk oils.

The tanks were sealed, and the bottom of the tanks was surprisingly spotless.
