2016 RAM 2500 6.7L Cummins - Running Rough With Codes

    Hello,

    I have a 2016 6.7L Cummins with around 108,000 miles.

The truck has been great with hardly any issues.

I did have the heater core replaced, and now the truck has been acting weird sometimes, and sometimes it acts fine.

The symptoms are rough idling, surging /unsteady when accelerating, and there has been a knocking noise sometimes when I stop or let off the pedal.

When I am riding slow or stopped, the truck will sometimes jump forward but not always.

The truck seems to begin acting differently when it has been running for 20+ miles.

The check engine light will come on, and the service electronic throttle control will come on sometimes, and then they will go away until they reappear.

I went by Advance Auto Parts and had them tell me the codes.

    The codes are as follows:
    P0473
    U010E
    P0336
    P0721
    P0736
    P0933
    P2703

The truck is tuned with EFI Live while deleted; this all happened around 75,000 miles ago.

Does anyone have any input on what may be the issue(s)?

I really appreciate any help you can provide.

I would thoroughly check your wiring.

Put in a new crank sensor and go from there.

It could be from the tuning if that's when these issues started.

    Is TV unplugged?

I had a shop replace the heater core, and maybe they did not plug something up correctly?

My tuning has been fine for over 70,000 miles, and my tv/screen is plugged in, but it was unplugged when the heater core was changed.

Sorry I misunderstood you on the fact that it has been running fine for 70k.

In regards to TV, I was referring to your throttle valve.

It usually gets unplugged when the truck is tuned.

You have some transmission codes, so make sure the transmission wiring harness is plugged incorrectly.

    I believe it's on that side if it's a 68 trans.

Thank you so much for the quick reply, and sorry, I guess I misunderstood you on the TV/throttle valve.

I will definitely look into all of this.

Do you think it is possible that either the throttle valve or the transmission wiring harness were altered during the heater core replacement?

    Thank you again.

    I cannot say for sure.

They may have seen the throttle valve unplugged and thought plugging it was the right thing to do.

    That’s quite a list.

P2703, P0933, P0736, and P0721 are all transmission-related and possibly due to transmission tuning.

U010E is definitely due to engine tuning and not a problem.

P0473 is Exhaust Pressure Sensor 1 High and could be the result of tuning.

I would start by clearing all codes and see which ones return.

The P0336 code is the “Crank Shaft Position Sensor” that would explain some of the symptoms you are experiencing.

Did the shop reflash the ECM?

I had a recall on mine for a tailgate latch, and the smart guys unplugged my MM3 and reflashed mine.

I gave it back to me with CEL, and I had to hook up the MM3 and flash my tunes back on.
