2021 RAM 2500 Limited With Carli Lift / Brake Pull

Hello everyone, I just have to say, this forum has been extremely beneficial.

I appreciate any responses in advance.

I picked up my 2021 2500 6.7L Limited rear air suspension last week after waiting 3 months while it was on order.

With 80 miles on the truck, I put on the 3.25 Carli Commuter lift, with Carli sway bar, Carli track bar, Thuren/King steering stabilizer, and 20x10 Lonestar Gunslingers w/ -25mm offset, with Toyo AT3 325/60/20s/, and the truck looks awesome!

However, if I have to brake hard at highway speeds, the truck pulls to the left and almost wants to throw me in the left lane.

I have not had an official alignment since I lifted it.

Instead, I did it old school, set the caster to factory locations (Even Carli instructions said to do so), and adjusted the steering wheel to be straight.

Since I never messed with Tow, I did not adjust tow.

However, if it matters, the new wheels and tires stick out pretty good.

Anyways, I was careful not to damage brake lines or extend axles beyond brake line capability while I was lifting.

The truck is so new, and I doubt it is a stuck caliper.

Unfortunately, I am not entirely sure if it was doing this before the lift as I did not need to brake hard on the highway.

I would assume that it was not.

    Any ideas?

Would a bad alignment cause this? (Even though I think the truck is aligned perfectly, as it drives like a champ)

Would the Carli Sway bar cause this if, for some reason, it is at the wrong height or adjusted wrong? (Again, followed Carli recommendations to a tee)

Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

I even wondered if it's the active lane assist, but that too is working perfectly while I drive, so I doubt it.

    Thanks, everyone!

Sounds like a pinched brake line.

Al, so I'd get aligned from a good shop that knows lifted setups.

If I had to guess I would assume it would be something out of spec.

The track bar can play an issue if not properly installed or torqued down as it's a bear to torque down properly and sometimes could come loose if not slightly overtorqued at times.

Also, check brake lines in case it might be slightly pinched and you don't noticed it.

Take a good look over it all and you may find something you overlooked.

We have only had a couple people have issues such as you mention and it turned out to be the track bar and or the brake lines.

Your truck is so new everything else should be good to go and not worn out.

An alignment is not a bad idea either because even if it drives straight down the road it still may not be aligned properly.

Granted i don't know your level of expertise when it comes to this so if you trust it yourself and call it good then i say go for it but it may not hurt for a shop to just check it out.

I would also recommend checking the rear track bar and brake lines.

Re: 2021 RAM 2500 Limited With Carli Lift / Brake Pull

    Hello everyone.

So, I am starting to wonder if what I am experiencing with the pull to the left isn't normal?

    Let me explain.

I put the lift on this truck immediately I did not have to slam on the brakes at high speed in the 50 miles I drove it prior to the lift.

Prior to this, I have never driven a truck that did not have leaf springs in the back.

My truck has rear air suspension.

But same principle would apply with the trucks with rear coil springs.

They still have a track bar. Anyways, I am wondering if when you brake, the inertia makes you nose dive, and essentially lifts or takes weight off the rear, causing lift in the rear and thus the rear track bar to pull the rear axle to the right (and front of truck left).

When I brake the truck just kind of "floats" left.

The steering wheel does not move (Its not front brakes). Here is what I have done:

I aligned the truck. I retightened all bolts, track bar on front and rear, etc.

I also bled the brake lines on all 4 wheels.

When I brake, the steering will does not turn.

I have had stuck calipers before and weak/kinked brake lines in the front.

When that happens, the steering wheel usually fights you when the you brake.

That is not the case here. When I brake hard at speed it is like the truck just drifts left, almost from the rear going right.

Had I tested all of this before the lift, or had to brake hard on the highway before the lift, I would have known if what I am experiencing is normal or not.

    Hope this all makes sense.

    Thanks for any input!

    Couple of more options.

Swap the passenger and driver side tires and see if the pull goes right.

Take a test drive in the same truck that is not lifted to see if it is the same or different under “a brake test”.

Pull the steering stabilizer off and see if the pull is different.

I seem to recall on either Carli or Thuren’s tech information a description of how a steering stabilizer may cause a pull to one side.

What is missing in your case is a constant pull to one side.

Last option is to call Carli and talk to tech support.

    Very good ideas.

I actually did not think about swapping tires or pulling steering stabilizer.

You are correct, I do not have a pull under normal driving.
