Thoughts On H.O. Turbo And Manifold?

The high output trucks have a significantly larger exhaust housing/turbine and better flowing tubular style manifold.

I know you'd have to modify the exhaust etc., but has anyone done this swap in a 2018, for example?

Unless you happen to have one on hand already for free, there are plenty of turbo and manifold upgrades out there made for your truck, without going that odd route.

2017 2500 Laramie: DRD Juiced, 5" TBE, Invisible EGR mod, BD Iron Horn 364sxe/1.0AR, 20x10 Hostile Sprockets, 33x12.50 General Grabber A/T, HID Conversion, Reverse Level 2" Drop CSS Rear Coils

It's a better manifold with a larger VGT turbo, so if you want to keep the VGT seems it would be cheap to rob one of a wrecked/totaled truck.

If you want to keep VGT there are options there too without modification.

Fleece Cheetah gets you a 600hp+ truck - drop in on stock manifold.

Yeah, but you're limited on the volume of the stock flange size.

The HO setup has a much bigger flange where the turbo bolts to the manifold.

Just a thought on some stock parts that are an upgrade.

I guess nobody has done it, so that I might go first.

I’m guessing you're planning on staying factory emissions and tune.

Otherwise, this is an expensive and time-consuming way to make 50hp.

I’d have to look at some files I have stored, but I’m positive the ho vs. non-ho tune is different anyways.

The compression ratio is also lower on the ho motors.

You can make 500hp or so with the factory turbo just with tuning and support mods, of course.

You run out of fuel before the air becomes an issue.
