    Welp.

I’m at a standstill until I can figure out how the hell these knobs come off the stock face so o can transfer it to the new metro unit.

Alright, I got them off, and now some of the buttons stick…

I think I’m gonna call it for the night.

Less than impressed with Metra products or Scosche at the moment.

I didn’t realize they were so cheaply made.

    Complete Audio System Replacement

Ok, I got the Scosche kit sorted.

The inside walls of all the buttonholes have rough edges from the manufacturing process.

I sanded them, and the buttons move fine.

I’m also using this time to put some sealant along; some seem to help make it feel more solid.

I did this with some Harley fairings, and it worked amazing.

I need to unbolt the rear seat next to reroute some wires again, which I knew I should have done to begin with.

I am using 16 feet of premade speaker wiring and 15 feet of RCA cable, and it seems to be more than enough.

I also uninstalled the circular USB input from the main dash and replaced it with Pioneer with USB and HDMI.

Truth be told, I wish I would’ve just purchased it with two USBs.

The stock USB will be installed inside the little compartment of the glove box for my wife to use.

The RCA cables are taped together in the front, and I have to do it for part of the rear.

I use the method from the guy that’s in the video on the first post in this thread.

I’m also using the same kind of tape. It’s like this fabric tape.

That’s about all I’m gonna do for the day.

I’m at a stopping point and want to set my stuff up for tomorrow, soldering the speaker wire to the harness and finding the screws for the head unit bracket .

    They are missing.

I do have a question in regards to that, though.

What happens if the amp goes bad?

Will I no longer be getting sound to my speakers (components only)?

Is there a way for me to wire from both the head unit and the amp to the wiring harness, or will this mess the signal up?

    Alright, Heading to the beach.

    Sounds like good progress.

Speakers can only be fed from 1 source.

I wouldn't be too concerned with amp failing, and they should last many years as long as you keep them away from water.

    Confused about something.

In step two, the green and white connectors have already plugged into the matching color.

I’m not sure why they’d be switched if there is an amp or isn’t an amp.

I can see the wires that feed into them on my harness, and they are the speaker wires.

It makes zero sense to me.

Updated "schematic." Per a local shop's recommendation, I will be leaving the DSP out of the mix until it is all hooked up and ready to go.

The owner also helped me out by drawing a diagram of how to wire the RCA cables to the amp using a Y harness on each positive and negative outlet, which was really helpful.

The shop's name is Progressive Auto Sounds, and they deal with more JL audio than any shop I have been to.

They also deal heavily in AudioControl, which seems to be like an amazing product lineup.

This guy spent about an hour breaking everything down, and not once did he try to upsell me on anything or try to get me to bring the vehicle in to have them do it.

He was super supportive the whole time and said to call whenever I had questions.

I mostly post here because he is swamped, and I don't want to wear out my welcome.

Side note: I forgot to purchase a wiring loom.

I have to pick that up or order it before installing the amp kit.

I am very picky about the appearance of the engine compartment.

It isn't gonna look SEMA ready by any means, but I want as stock as possible in the bay.

I need the truck sooner than later, so I have some wire loom coming that can wrap around it.

Not gonna wait for it to arrive.

Did find the adapter to run the cable through quite nice.

The green vs. white connector deal is just in how the iDatalink wants to get the signal.

All I can tell you is to follow the instructions as stated, and everything will be just fine.

Ok, I’ll try it out that way first.

I got hung up with some other stuff and have both the front door speakers installed with the crossover.

Have to do the back today and the dash.

Then I should be ready to party.

Everything is hooked up, but the amp won’t turn on.

Gonna check ground and all that.

I did use the remote wire that came in the 9 wire bundle and straight into the metra harness.

Was I supposed to use the one-off of the back of the head unit?
