    68RFE Shifts Like Crap

    I have a 2015 2500 Laramie mega cab with 30k miles I just bought.

It’s deleted and has an EZ Lynk tuner which I hate.

Everything is stock on the truck except the deletes, and I noticed the 68RFE shift really hard like I feel like the transmission is just going to drop out hard.

If I put it in tow/haul mode, it shifts smoother, more like my other 2500’s I’ve had, but it’s still a hard shift.

When I accelerate fast, it seems like the transmission goes crazy and doesn’t know what gear to put it in and shakes and sometimes slips for no reason; it’s awful with tow/haul turned off.

I just took a trip and noticed when I’m going 70-80 on top of 5 or bottom of 6th, I get an up and down shaking in the truck and slipping in 3 to 4th gear when accelerating.

I reset the auto-learn, and it drove decent for about 400 miles, then went back to acting crazy.

I think it’s a tuning issue since the truck has never been to the dealer for any recalls or updates?

    Any help would be appreciated.

If it’s slipping, you are looking at trans issues.

It may have stemmed from bad tuning, but it is toast once it starts slipping the clutch.

Probably the reason why they sold it in the first place.

Do you know who did the tuning?

EZ Lynk is just the pass-through.

If it's actually slipping you'd get an incorrect ratio code for the gear/gears its slipping in.

Sounds like some better tuning could be beneficial.

    Also it hates oversize tires.

    Especially with 3.42s.

The EZ Lynk says T&K performance.

I don’t get any codes and when I do the auto learn it runs decent for 200 miles then goes back to the weird shifting.

If you return to stock does it shift better?

    Question, not a hijack.

What tool are you using for the auto learn?

    2015 / RAM / 2500 CTD-68RFE-4wd / 3.42 / stock tire size / Silver / Bighorn

I have not returned it to stock to see yet, but it seems to know more of what gear it wants to be in and doesn’t hesitate when it's in the tow-haul mode.

I used the EZ Lynk app to redo the auto learn.

So I’ve dumped the EZ Lynk and installed a DRD MM3 tuner, and I instantly had a different truck.

It shifts way better, more responsive, and isn’t acting up anymore.

Only this is I got a P051C error code for the low circuit for the crankcase pressure sensor.

    Anything to worry about?

Pleased to hear your transmission is shifting better now.

This attachment should help you troubleshoot the P051C error.
