2nd Gen Swap Burning Oil On Cold Start Up

I recently installed a 2nd gen swap kit from WCFab.

In the morning on cold starts and with high idle on there is blue smoke coming from the exhaust.

Is this normal for a 2nd Gen swap, or should I be worried?

Did you actually check your oil level and notice it losing oil?

There will always be white/grey smoke on cold start until the engine gains some temp - it's just unburned diesel fuel.

You may not have noticed as much before since the VGT speeds up warm up and lessens the amount of time it smokes for.

Re: 2nd Gen Swap Burning Oil On Cold Start Up

It lost a little oil not sure if it's just from the turbo filling up or burning off.

I've been keeping an eye on it to make sure it is not losing anymore and haven't seen it lose a lot.

I'm also not driving frequently right now.

The smoke has a bluish tint to it, and I thought that meant that oil was burning?

I'll keep an eye on everything, but I just wanted someone else's opinion.

You shouldn't have noticed any difference, does it go away after it warms?

    Check for blow by.

I'd also make sure your turbo oil drain is not blocked or bent and has a direct shot to the oil pan.
