Tons Of Codes - 2011 RAM 5500 With Aisin Trans

    2011 RAM 5500 Aisin trans.

It is new to me. I got the truck with these codes (below): It runs and drives fine, just sluggish acceleration, but the turbo is stuck in 1 position, no Exhaust brake, no low rpm boost.

P0102 Mass Airflow sensor A circuit low
P0405 EGR Position Sensor circuit low
P049d EGR Position exceeded learning limit
P2509 ECM/PCM Power Input Signal intermittent
P2bacNOX Exceedance - Deactivation of EGR
    U0101 Lost comm with TCM
    U010c U010C-LOST COMMUNICATION WITH TURBOCHARGER/SUPERCHARGER CONTROL MODULE

What have I done? Verified fuses 21 and 37.

Waiting for better weather to continue following the U010c Factory document.

Any ideas would be great as a direction to go.

Did you load test and make sure the batteries are good?

To start I’d disconnect the batteries and load test them independently.

Voltage will make the truck freak out.

Leaving them unhooked for 20 mins or so will reset the truck.

If batteries are in good health and codes come back my inclination is the actuator is stuck open which is why there is no boost down low and eb is not engaging.

The vanes in the closed position help build heat for emissions purposes which is why the emissions codes could be present.

Keep us posted, I can help with parts if needed.

    The batteries test fine.

I am actually thinking they are all interconnected through the "smart Power Control Relay system" I am looking into that now but will have an answer in the hours after work.

    Found Fuse 51 bad.

    Replaced and it shorted immediately.

Tested MAF Sensor has 4.5V and 2 grounds, should be 4.5-5V 12V and ground.

Found shorted wire near oil pressure sensor and spliced one in temporary.

Awaiting plug pins to come in and I will replace the whole wire.

I can't identify the wire yet I think it is 12V that is shared between EGR, MAF and Turbo Actuator.

I still have codes but everything is working.

IMPROVEMENT Not all above is accurate see next post

Re: Tons Of Codes - 2011 RAM 5500 With Aisin Trans

So I am down to 3 code now, and a huge hint in the right directing, but lacking some very needed information.

Here is what I have learned.

MAF code has gone away and I have re attached everything one at a time, except now I have to do it again in the daylight as I did it last with the ground disconnected.

I did drive home without blowing fuse 51, but no driving characteristic changes.

I got home and noted I didn't reconnect the ground. as soon as I did, the fuse blew.

This needs to be reconnected first with everything disconnected and one at a time plug things in to find the culprit.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram showing the smart power relay system? And a diagram showing everything connected to the ground on the side of the block nearest the oil pressure sensor?

I have narrowed that section of the harness down to be my issue.

Found this Smart Power Relay information online, but it’s for a 2012, 3500 so not sure if it will help you any. Document.pdf

I had found that, and it answered a lot of my questions but I still can't seem to identify what grounds there. (Now Irrelevant)

Its cold, but daylight, and I have an update.

The ground strap at the engine block next to the oil pressure sensor measures 12V when checked between the disconnected eyelet and the block.

If I unplug the turbo actuator, the voltage goes away that would deduce I have a turbo actuator problem.

Now do I replace the turbo, or just the actuator?

That is the choice I have to make.
