Yup - They have to Pay --> $$$$$$$$$$$ - for the correct formulation within the ATF+4 so it meets the certification.

Red Line - pretty much mimicked the ATF+4 formulation with their C+ ATF - though it is a much more robust Ester Based formulation. (Performs Flawlessly in the 68RFE)

Many Companies have shelled out the mighty $$$$$$$$ for the correct formula

    Either Mopar or valvoline.

    I prefer valvoline.

FCA has a tsb about switching to valvoline for transmissions that develop a squawk noise when shifting.

Do you know the history of the 68RFE? It's a built-up 545RFE which is what I had behind my Hemi in my 07 1500.

That transmission was built up from the original transmission that dates back to their minivans in the 80s.

The Allison 1000 was built DOWN from their big stuff to in a 3/4 ton pickup.

With both transmissions, not a lot changed in the build process, which is why it takes the builders a lot to build the 68 to hold increased power.

I'm currently on the fence between the Allison and the Revmax 700, so I've been doing all the research I can.

I think the Allison locks up in 2nd gear and stays locked where the 68 won't lock until 4th, and from my understanding of the 68 locks sooner, it would see a very early death.

    For the awesome history lesson!
Yes I did know - as well as the weaknesses of the 68RFE!

What kind of line pressure is yours running? Do you have a heads up display to see the psi at all times?

    I do.

I have the MM3 set, so I can always watch it.

My like pressure at idle is like 110ish and then anywhere from 170ish to over 225 depending on if I romp on i5.
