Thread: 2002 Dodge Transmission

    2002 Dodge Transmission

Only took me 3 hours don't think it's that bad since 1st time I pulled a Dodge transmission.

Now the question is do I get a rebuild kit and get somebody to do the overdrive and valve body for me or do I just send the whole thing out?

What do you guy think about BD valve bodies?

I am thinking about doing the rebuild on my trans my self but buying a new pump and torque converter and instead of doing the VB getting one from BD.

I don't know much about BD valve bodies.

Maybe someone can chime in with some info on them, but I would personally go with Revmax or Suncoast.

OK the reason why I was going with BD is because I can get them in Canada without the issue of exchange and duties.

Another question all I have read is don't run a aftermarket trans cooler with out a stock oem cooler. Why is that?

Good morning, sorry for the delay!

Just got back from a trip in NC and driving a truck back to Texas.

Talk about a heck of a haul LOL.

@Brown Guy BD Diesel is not a bad company at all and is not a bad choice.

However I do agree with the above that there are better options out there.

Revmax is my favorite hands down to use for transmissions.

Those guys have been absolutely great with no issues at all and awesome customer service. not to mention a heck of a product to boot.

I have installed both and I prefer the Revmax for sure.

In the end it's what you can afford though and if you need to save some cash the BD diesel is not a bad choice.

OK rather than make another thread about transmission coolers can somebody confirm with me whether it is OK to just run a aftermarket cooler or do I need to run it through my stock cooler which is probably plugged full of crap since the transmission piled up?

Have plans on running it through my heat exchanger 1st then through a aftermarket BD cooler with a electric fan on a thermostat.

I think the most important thing is running a transmission cooler of some sort.

If your transmission burned up you will definitely need a new cooler as they can’t be cleaned.

We’re it mine I’d purchase a new stock replacement cooler and try that first.
