    Steering Issue

Quick question, when going around a corner at speed, the truck steering goes back and forth like it’s fighting.

Going straight is fine. Noticed at highway speeds more than anything.

    Truck has 50k.

Would that likely be u joints or steering box?

Also any way to check that without going to a shop?

    Thanks!

That sounds more like alignment issue.

Also check to make sure your not 4x4 engaged.

Just because light is not on (4×4) does not mean your truck is not in 4x4. Being engaged will cause this also.

If you were engaged in 4x4 recently and your steering issue just started, try putting truck back in 4x4 going forward 15 feet then take out of 4x4 then put in reverse and repeat 15 ft.

    Then check steering.

Alignment issue or something is wore.

Could be your track bar, are you leveled or lifted?

Just purchased the truck this month.

I’ll take it in for alignment this week.

    Hoping it’s not U Joints.

    Tires are 70 percent.

Something else I just thought of I'm not sure how to check it, but we have a truck at work that had a problem as you describe and when we took it in for service it turned out to be the abs system was grabbing the front tires as you made a turn. I'll have to look at service sheet to see what they replaced. Just a thought.

Try rotating the tires front to back and check the balance and air pressures on them. Don’t criss cross them rotating.

    Re: Steering Issue

Sounds like u joints to me. I just went through this. Jack up the front tires and turn the steering wheel all the way. Then spin your front tires by hand. If you feel resistance pulsing it's the u-joint. While you're at it, grab top and bottom to check for slop in the bearing. I found one u-joint and opposite side bearing at 60K. Swapped everything both sides.
