Muffler With Delete Pipe - 2021 5th Gen

    Howdy friends.

I have my 2021 RAM 2500 mega cab on order, so I do not have it in the driveway yet and cannot get a good visual of the exhaust.

I am going to tune with DRD quickly after it arrives, and will be dropping "weight."

I want to maintain the stock exhaust (other than the race pipe) for 2 reasons:
    - In case I ever have to go back to stock
    - My truck is air ride in the rear, and I have read about issues with after-market exhaust in the rear

    BUT - I would like a muffler.

Is there a way/room/modification to add a muffler with the delete pipe?

Do they typically go in the same spot?

Or is the muffler typically further back?

These sound like rookie questions - but I do not have the truck. On my 2010 ram, I used a delete pipe but left the stock muffler - back then they came with a muffler.

Any advice is appreciated. The forum has been great. I cannot wait till my truck arrives!

Not sure on the 21' exhaust setup.

    I have a 16'.

    I went with a 18in FLO~PRO twister muffler.

I placed it about 6in from the down pipe flange on the test pipe.

Ended up using a cut off wheel to cut out the section on the test pipe.

    THANK YOU for the response.

Do you enjoy the way the muffler sounds?

This is what I ordered. I have air suspension too, it fits no problem. And is surprisingly quiet even towing my 20k pound rv.

Thanks! I wonder if it would fit my 2021.

Also, I realize sound is subjective, but does the truck still sound "deleted" or straight piped - just quieter?

    Is it louder than stock?

    Thanks!

Still sounds deleted, definitely not a straight piped loud.

I wasn't going for the straight piped sound.

I have an autistic son who doesn't like loud noises, so if he can ride for 10 hours at a time while traveling, I'd say it's not loud.

I also think RAM has done a better job of sound dampening the cab in the 19 and up model years.

All my previous RAM trucks that have deleted had a lot more cab noise than my current truck does.

    Thank you for the answers.

Yea I am not sure what I am going for either, pretty sure I am not wanting straight piped loud either, but I do want to hear the Turbo, etc more with the deletes.

I am glad to hear the sound dampened the cab more!

    Thanks!

I love the way it sounds. Its slightly louder than stock with a little rumble.

No drone at highway speeds or when towing.

My days of loud exhaust systems are past me, with a family I wanted something tolerable on road trips towing.

By chance, do you have any knowledge if this pipe would fit a 2021? I would imagine all 19-21s are the same??
