Diesel Motor Oil - Which One?

So, looking to see what oils you guys are using for your 6.7s?

I’ve been running Rotella T4 since I’ve had the truck and not one oil leak, and I’m thinking of switching to synthetic oil or using the same oil with added Hot Shots FR3.

I’m leery of changing oils because I swear every other vehicle I’ve had when I went to synthetics.

I started getting oil leaks around the motor; maybe that’s just me and my luck.

I’m sure Amsoil will be brought up, but that’s really pricey oil, and I have not seen proof it’s better than any other.

My truck has been recently (a dirty word), so it can breathe and not eat its own soot in its oil, so I am interested in seeing what most are using and why.

Hot Shots FR3 supposedly increased 14 horsepower in a real-world Dyno for Firepunk, so that’s interesting.

I'm personally an Amsoil dealer, so of course, I have my preference.

However, I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is, and I consistently run Amsoil and filter for over 20k miles per oil change.

I send my sample off to Blackstone, and they have consistently reported that there is life left in the oil every time I change.

I would rather spend more money on higher quality oil and change it less often.

I have put over 150k miles on my truck with nothing but Amsoil every 15k to 20k and no oil leaks.

Another source cemented by belief in Amsoil products was a Peterson 4Wheel and Offroad article from several years back.

They wear-tested the top 4 synthetic gear oils.

Amsoil had the least amount of wear, and royal purple was second with more than twice as much wear.

Interesting Analysis someone just posted with Comparing Rotella T4 T5 and T6.

Looks to me T4 is better than T6 and T5 is the best?

Personally, I just run a good old Dino oil and change every 5k.

Mobil Delvac 1300 for me after reading some about it.

I work on farm equipment, and all these Cummins engines with 10-20000 plus hours have run conventional oil since new.

Not saying synthetic isn’t better for some applications, but for me, Dino oil every 5k does the trick with a Fleetguard filter.

The first 40k miles saw T6 5w40 and 15w40 with Fleetguard filter but am now using Amsoil diesel oil Signature Series Max Protection synthetic 15w40 with Amsoil filter.

Is anyone else having a tough time finding Rotella T4 oil?

I live in North Carolina, and you can’t find it anywhere; it’s drying up everywhere I look.

Guess I may be forced to change to different oil.

I don't really know why people don't just run T6 and move on with their lives.

Probably most commonly used, no problems, easy to find, decent price.

I have been running T-6 in everything. My Cummins. My TDI Jetta, Yamaha Outboard, Lawnmower, Pressure washer, 4 wheeler.

Right now I can't find it in Tennessee. On Amazon the price has more than tripled.

Not sure what I'm going to switch to.
