    dry rockers?? 07 5.9

I had my block and head at the machine shop. They punched it out sleaved it all new bearings new valves / and guides all new freeze plugs complete rebuild. I got the motor back in the truck and running. I changed my injectors and while doing so noticed some of the rockers I removed were bound up. Pulled all apart polished them all to where they moved on the hold down freely cleaned all oil passageways and ports and reassembled. Fired up the truck and watch the rockers only half are getting oil. Seems like every other set is running dry. Any ideas as to what is causing this out any one have same problem as I am? Truck has plenty of oil pressure too.

    Is this at idle only?

I'm not sure on this, guessing. You sure you have the right head gasket?

The head gasket I got is what Cummins gave me going by my ESN. And the few rockers are dry at idle and higher rpms.

I have to see if I can find a oiling chart for a 5.9. You may have a blockage in the head from the machine shop. Seen that before, but in a gasser

Sometimes the o-rings for the oil return off the turbo get pushed or dropped into the oil pan. The o-ring can then get sucked up into the sump and as it breaks up the pieces end up in the oil gallerys of the engine. Or it could be from machining like Steve said. Not sure about the different Cummins head gaskets but it might be the problem.

I have not had one apart for a long long time. Fingers crossed.

I ripped the head off and there the problem was. The wrong head gasket. Only ports that were off were the oil ports.

I said that way back in the beginning. You need to be real careful with stuff like that. Matching them to the old is the best way. These catalogs on line leave allot to be desired. Not your fault. I've been there already
