Instead of creating another Post - I figured this was a good spot.

I have always installed these on my trucks when I had a presentable location (Upstream of the Cooler after leaving the Transmission) - I think I seen a couple spots where I could install this when I installed the ATS - ATF Thermal By-Pass Delete unit.

I just have to figure out the Diameter of the ATF rubber hose - I know flow is not drastically hampered by this filter - so one more preventive maintenance filter in place will only give me piece of mind the ATF is staying decently clean - Yes I know the Micron Rating of the Magnafine is not that eye catching (25-30 microns) which I seen a couple years ago.

Might be a good possible preventive maintenance filter to add @ the time I drop my OEM 68RFE pan and replace with the PPE pan.

Any thoughts? or do ya think this is overkill - My Common Sense tells me if flow is not restricted - Any chance to achieve another ATF filter pass is a positive modification.
It's of course another filter to change - but for those of us who do our own maintenance and not afraid to get our hands dirty - this is a piece of cake to replace.
It’s overkill but if it gives you peace of mind and won’t hurt anything then go for it.

I add two extra magnets in the pan when I build 68RFEs.

Most 68RFEs that slip in 5th and 6th I get have little to no material in the pan.

The factory BorgWarner clutch’s don’t shed a lot of material, to begin with.

The factory filter doesn’t pull fluid from the bottom of the pan where the clutch material collects anyway.

Thanks - Speaking of Magnets - I have 3 powerful N42 Neodymium Magnets (1 I will never get removed) on the outside bottom of my OEM pan - (Placed them at the 200-mile mark)

Also, have 2 - N42 2" x 1/2 x 1/2" Neodymium magnets waiting to be placed on the outside of the New spin-on filter that will be installed @ the time of the new pan install.

Still trying to think of ideas on how to place the 2 outside magnets I have now on the inside of the New Aluminum PPE pan - that's waiting to be installed.

We all know Aluminum & Magnets don't play well together.

Thinking of possibly investing in this rascal - Still, use these powerful magnets & have the drain plug that is needed.

I know the Amazon Reviews are very sketchy - but the reviews all claim no leaks from drain plugs - so I am seriously looking at this option.

I jb weld the magnets to the inside of the aluminum pans.

I get the OEM-style magnets from the local trans parts store.

    Nothing fancy.

I started adding the two extras when I saw the 2019 models coming with three magnets in the pan.

If you change fluid and filter when it needs it and keep temps down below 230, you will be fine.

Really there is no need for all this extra stuff IMO.

I’ve got transmissions I’ve built behind 900hp trucks that get raced or abused weekly using bulk oil from the tank at my work, with more than 50k miles on them. No issues.

My personal truck, almost 800 hp, sees boosted launches more than it should.

It isn't warmed up before I hit the hwy full throttle most of the time and lives in the race tune.

I changed the fluid and filters last month after 45k miles.

Still cherry red and no significant material on the magnet.

The 68RFE isn’t as bad as people make it out to be.

Especially on near-stock trucks, most importantly with stock-sized tires or correct gearing with oversized tires.

    X2

I have the Revmax VB plus tuning and have no complaints.

    Great upgrade.

The Revmax VB does a lot of good with trans tuning.

An added capacity trans pan is always better for cooling.

PM or email me, and I can get you fixed up!

Re: 68RFE Transmission Preventative Modifications / Upgrades

I installed the RevMax ZeroStat Bypass valve on mine just before taking a 2000+ mile trip down to the Florida Keys towing a 30 ft Airstream a few weeks ago, and it did great.

It hovered around 135-139 degrees at Hwy speeds with 6th locked out.

Sitting in traffic about 152, but once I started moving, drop back down.

Before install trans would mostly run at 168-174 towing, but in traffic, hot weather would hover 180+.

If that Stat fails, it’ll burn that trans right up.

I’d rather run cooler than the boiling point.
