    I would suggest at least plugging the EGR crossover tube.

    Even with the EGR disabled, with the plumbing intact you will still get a lot of water vapor going back through the turbo.

    At least that was my experience on a 2009.

    I left EGR cooler in place for 260k miles with no problems.
