Occasionally, after I shift into 4wd my front axel will grind until I slow to less than 5 mph then it will pop and lock into 4wd.
I can tell it's coming from the slide ring that is on the front axel, and it seems like it's not completely engaging until the truck is near stopped.
It happens when it's cold(20 degrees or colder.
Anything I should be concerned about?
Does anyone have a similar experience?
Update (2hrs later) I drove the truck and tried to shift into 4wd and now it's a very loud and aggressive grinding sound.
It won't shift into 4wd at all.
2014 2500 SRW.
Please help.
