    Throttle Commander Thoughts?

Thinking of getting a throttle commander.

I have done some research but wanting thoughts on if it’s worth it or not, good idea or bad?

    I have a 2017 2500.

Stock now but MM3 is on the way with a full delete.

If your getting delete tuning with an MM3 then you should have no need for a throttle booster.

The throttle lag should be taken care of with the tuning on the MM3.

You can stack them but I would wait until your truck is set up.

As mentioned the new files will eliminate the dead pedal

    Agree with the above comments.

I believe you will be more than happy with your throttle response once tuned.

Save the money for other upgrades later.

I absolutely find pedal commanders to be a waste of money.

    They don't actually "cure" anything.

They simply cause the pedal position sensor to lie to the computer by telling it you are giving the truck more pedal input than you actually are.

So even though you are only pushing the pedal 10% the computer thinks you are pushing it 30% (approximation of course).

I'm on my 3rd Cummins and have never had an issue with this alleged dead pedal, nor do I find that pushing my gas pedal down further to be enough of an inconvenience to spend $300.

I’d have too disagree respectfully but it’s just my experience. I’ve had mine on over a year till recently, and although it doesn’t change anything other than throttle input it sure does make driving the truck much more enjoyable and if your not deleting anything or tuning it’s well worth the $250 . It truly gives the feeling that something significant was added under the hood , and it does not Void warranty also . Again just my experience but most that use them and are using them love the device .

@MillsRam - This is interesting - A coworker & I had this very same conversation the other night at work.

He has a 2018 Duramax - which he chose not to delete due to the huge cost - but he did install a pedal commander (about 8 months ago) and he described the exact same results as you - practically word for word.

Sadly he had to Replace his first Duramax (Highly Tuned Black Widow Edition) $85K Truck - due to blowing the engine down the turnpike racing a corvette.
(Young Kids have to learn the hard way)!

So he does know what a decently high HP diesel motor feels like & is capable of --> Though he is highly lacking on basic common sense.

He spent a whole 14 mins - attempting to convince me I needed to spend my $225-$270 on one as well - Ya I politely hit the ignore button.

I have Wants & Needs & I know the difference between the 2.

    Re: Throttle Commander Thoughts?

I have a pedal commander that came off of my 1500 and I do enjoy it.

I have DRD tuning as well and like having them both.

Funny cause on the RAM forum everyone absolutely loves these things.

I think it’s more enjoyable with the 8 speed though.

I have one on my RT Durango as well, it’s nice not having any “lag” in the pedal and having the hemi scream quicker.
