Persistent AT Issue

Does the truck use data coming from the ambient temp sensor - what it sounds like is mounted in driver's side mirror arm - in combination with these other sensors to determine temp of air for motor? Basically, is the ambient temp sensor in the loop of the others which, if it's reading improperly, causing the rationality issue?

Unfortunately it’s not clear to me if the ambient air temperature is factored in, but if yours is reading incorrectly I would replace it first. You are correct the ambient air temperature sensor is located in the driver’s side mirror arm and reports to the Drivers Door Module.

Mirror Glass removal attached, but come to think about it the sensor may be accessible from under the mirror arm.

Is that going to be the one on the elbow going from intercooler to engine? - I believe they call it a MAP sensor?
