    Just An EPA Thought

Just throwing this out there to see what people think.

I was thinking of deleting my truck but was worried about the EPA.

Was going to try and find an old exhaust system that was not working but the housings were good and hogging it out.

I would install it with everything hooked up so it looked factory.

Do you think it would work and if not why?

    Mike

I wouldn’t waste your time with all of that nonsense.

Just get a full delete kit with exhaust down pipe back and go with it.

Unless you live where you have to get emissions inspected I wouldn’t worry about it.

As long as you're not using it as a commercial motor vehicle (hot shot) or in a state/city that requires diesel emissions testing you'll be fine.

The states/cities will require you to "reassemble" emissions each year for the testing.

Others have done this over the years so it is definitely possible. The only thing I’m not sure of is weather or not you can leave the various exhaust sensors plugged in - might need to ask the person that writes the tunes. It definitely won’t sound the same though. Anyone who’s familiar with deleted diesels will know it’s not stock just from the way it sounds. You can get some good tips searching forums on various ways to remove media inside.

    Leave the EGR in place.

Get a delete pipe and go with it.

Reinstall the original exhaust if or when emissions are due. 45 minute job.

Revert to stock on tune and then pull it out and tune back when passed.

Get a shibby plug kit for exhaust to protect the connectors.

    It’s easy to do.

Even if it looks stock underneath there's no denying the sound and smell difference, but I guess if your goal is to only pass a visual it could work.
