Change Filter After Water In Fuel?

I went through the car wash with the fuel door open and some water got in the tank.

I drained both the front and back and haven't had a light since.

Now in eivc it says my fuel filters are at 4% and only has 5000 miles on them.

Does the water destroy the filters and should they be changed.

Do you do a lot of idling? If they sense water you'll get a WIF light, other than that they shouldn't be affected.

This is kind of interesting to me since I feel like my fuel door doesn't do anything to keep water out and there's no filler cap.

I always thought the 2 flap system would keep any moisture out as long as the second internal flap was not pushed open by a funnel or filler tube.

Interesting for sure. Since you only have 5k on these filters did you reset the filter life?

Yes lately have been doing more idling than normally. Maybe an hour or two since changing the filters.

That's exactly what I thought too. I think I'm going to invest in the green cap from Genos Garage.

That'd have to be it. The truck doesn't have the ability to tell if you have good or bad fuel. The oil and fuel filter life meters only know run time/idle time/mileage.
