Thread: 2011 RAM 2500 6.7L Bricked PCM

    2011 RAM 2500 6.7L Bricked PCM

Batteries in the truck went dead, truck is deleted and tuned with a RaceME Ultra.

It got new batteries and the alarm kept going off.

The truck didn’t respond to the keys.

I had it towed to the dealer and now they’re saying my PCM is bricked, how is this possible?

Has anyone had this problem before?

They’re saying PCM is $4100 and that may not be what’s all wrong with it.

I would get a second opinion on that.

That’s a lot of dough to shell out for a PCM.

If it really does need replacing you can get a refurbished one for about $500.

Maybe Ray or others can opine on this topic as it begs the question

How does that happen and what other factors will brick the PCM.

    What does 'brick' mean?

    Re: 2011 RAM 2500 6.7L Bricked PCM

So basically had a conversation with 3 other shop Forman’s from 3 different dealers.

What happened was when the battery voltage got below 11V it back fed voltage through the tuner which was plugged into the OBDII port and caused what they said was a high voltage spike and fried the PCM.

When they plug it in to their computer it’s not showing anything even the VIN it lost.

I need my truck back ASAP extended warranty is covering this I made some phone calls to my lender and the warranty people and they are covering it even though it’s tuned and deleted.

That's pretty amazing that the extended warranty co is covering this.

Question two: if the tuner wasn't plugged in would or could a similar spike cause this occurrence?

As a rule, unless I'm road tripping I don't have my tuner mounted on the worthless suction cup mount.

Thanks for the post and shares ya'll.

    Great topic!

Happy yer getting covered as well!
