RaceME Ultra Causing Draw To Battery

Guys my Ultra is causing a draw to the battery.

If I do not charge it everyday it goes dead

If I remove the cable from the OBD the draw goes away.

The batteries are only a couple of years old.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

Sounds like you have a battery with a bad cell friend.

Agreed it could be a bad cell in one of your batteries.

But what is the parasitic current draw with the tuner disconnected from the OBD port?

See this link with similar problem on MM3 tuner.

    This.
The current draw from a sleeping MM3/Ultra is so insignificant that if it's causing your batteries to die overnight, you have another issue.

Maybe some other parasitic drain, but definitely get some new batteries in that thing.

    What year is your truck?

Mine is a 2018 and I had the same issue.

It would actually keep the unconnected screen and instrument panel on after the truck would go to sleep.

The way I fixed it was to get a security bypass cable.

It goes in between the OBD plug and bypasses the factory security they installed in the can system after people were hacking into the Uconnect systems and controlling certain vehicles.

Ever since then I have not had and issue.

And my truck sits for weeks at a time without any battery drain issues now.

My 18 just did this. I'm sitting waiting for a jump.

I just installed the RMU yesterday and have not flashed it yet.

The truck can sit for a week and not have this issue.

Installed the RMU, but dead battery the next morning.

I have a sec bypass cable, and that's what the RMU is plugged into.

I had to re-install my custom tunes from DRD (due to dead batteries).

The trans tune is baked into the ecm program; what setting should I have my Trans selection in on my RaceMe Ultra menu?

    Stock or custom trans tune?

    2016 Dodge Ram 3500,
Smittybilt M1 bumper, turbo back exhaust, ARP HEAD STUDS, BD Diesel ProTect68 68RFE Gasket Plate Kit and BD deep trans pan, SCREAMER HE300VG Turbo, BD Diesel Exhaust Manifold, Monster-Ram® Intake System 3.5-inch, Banks Air filter, BD Grid heater delete, RaceMe Ultra, tunes supplied by DRD.

How long does the truck need to be off and locked for it to go to sleep?

I'm testing parasitic draw, hoping for some base numbers before I plug the Ultra back in and test.

At immediate key off, I have 3.6 draw.

I expect it to go down after a few minutes of being off, doors closed.

@AK Bob, do you have a PDF for this in your archive?

@Roberto Fisherman whatever the generic box tuning the custom trans file would be the one I'd run with.

II 60HP STICKS, II 33% CP3, II S464 2ND GEN SWAP, FASS 165 TITANIUM SIGNATURE SERIES, AFE INTAKE HORN, S&B FILTER, 5" TURBO BACK, ALPHAREX HEAD LIGHTS, 38X13.5X20 RAZOR M/T, MOTO METAL RIMS, 6" LA LIFT KIT, COMPLET MM3 KIT, BUILT TRANSMISSION, 6 BOLT REDHEAD STEERING BOX

Sorry, no PDF in my archive on parasitic draw testing.

As I am sure you are aware, 3.6 amps is a huge draw; ideally, you want to see 50 milliamps or less after the modules are asleep (5 to 10 minutes).

Ensure the under hood light is not on, and all the doors are closed or mechanically cheated, so the truck thinks they are closed, and unplug all aftermarket accessories.

While asleep, I would start by performing standard millivolt voltage drop checks across every fuse without removing them.

See attached voltage drop chart for conversion to amperage for each type and size of fuse.

This process should get you to the active circuit or circuits and draw the most current without waking up any modules.
